Fees & Rates

Administrative Fee
There is a ($10.00) non-refundable administrative and meter reading fee charged for all service connections and transfers involving a new or revised water service account.

Second Trip Service Fee
In the event our Serviceman is unable to leave the water meter on due to flow at the water meter (i.e. leaks, faucets left on, toilets running) and the customer or a customer's representative is not present to shut off the water flow, the serviceman will not leave the water meter on. The Water Department will bill the customer's account ($20.00) for a second trip service charge.

Reconnection Fees
Reconnection fees for non-payment are charged during both regular ($30.00) and after hours ($40.00).

Returned Check Fee
A $30.00 charge is made for all returned checks. If disconnection occurs, the amount of the returned check, the returned check charge and the reconnect charge ($30/$40) must be received by the Water Department before service can be restored. Payment must be made with cash or money order only. The Water Department reserves the right to require customers with returned checks to become cash only customers and to increase the security deposit amount.

After Hours Service Call Fee
A charge is made for all service calls after 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday and anytime during weekends or holidays. Please ask our representative for the amount of the charge prior to scheduling a service call. (913)727-1902

Illegal Tampering Fee
Meter tampering is not allowed. The consequence can be service disconnection, reconnection charges, security deposit increase, fines and damage assessments.

Monthly Water Rates and Cost
(Effective January 1, 2008).

The Waterworks Board sets rates on a declining rate structure. In other words, as water usage increases, the water rate decreases. A base (minimum) charge of $10.25 applies to all retail customers each month. This base charge also pays for the first two units (0,1 or 2 units) of water usage. An additional amount is then charged for each unit above the base charge for the first two units. The retail water rates for additional usages above two units are as follows:

-for the next 3 to 10 units of usage, the rate is $3.34 per unit.
-for the next 11 to 50 units of usage, the rate is $3.06 per unit.
-for the next 51-1000 units of usage, the rate is $2.54 per unit.
-for 1001 and over units of usage, the rate is $1.96 per unit.

The below chart shows the costs, based on the above rates, for 0 to 120 units of water.
